I Am

I am a swimmer and a basketball player.

I wonder if I can make it to the Olympics.

I hear the water splashing or I hear the ball bouncing.

I see the finish line.  I see the hoop.

I want to be in first place.

I am a swimmer and a basketball player.

I pretend to touch the flag when I jump or shoot.

I feel the water on my hands and the ball’s spikes.

I touch the bottom of the pool or the hoop.

I worry that I am going to be in last place.

I cry when I fall or do a belly flop.

I am a swimmer and a basketball player.

I understand that it is sometimes not fun to win.

I say you can be anything you want to be if you try hard.

I dream to be in first place and win a medal.

I try to say, “Good job” to everyone next to me.

I hope that I can go on the swim team again.
