How We Got Light And Dark

By: Jake

Once there was a man who watched over the world. He also watched over the animals. One day a skunk went up the highest mountain and said to the man, “It is so bright, we can’t sleep. What can you do?”
The man said, “ I can get something to cover up the earth so you can sleep.”
“Ok” said the skunk. That night, all of the animals got to sleep really good. But when they woke up, they couldn’t see a thing. So a bear went up the same mountain and said to the man, “You covered up the earth with something and now we can’t see! What can you do?” asked the bear.
Then the man said, “I can’t do anything!
“Fine then. I will scratch it off.” And he did, but his nails broke off and it made swirls and that is how we got the Milky Way.
When the bear got home, the deer said, “What happened to you?”
So the bear told him everything and the porcupine said, “Then I will cut the rest of it off with my quills and he did. But his quills broke off and it made dots in it and that is how we got the stars.
So the man said, “You can stop. I could get something to cut half of it of so you can sleep in the night, and see in the morning and see for the rest of the day till 7:00 PM. And he did, but he didn’t cut all of it. He only cut half of it off. So that is how we got light and dark.
