I Am

I am an athlete who likes to play soccer.

I wonder if I will get to the Women’s World Cup

I hear the swish of the soccer ball hitting the net. 

I see people cheering when I score the winning goal.

I want to be a famous soccer player when I grow up.

I am an athlete who likes to play soccer.

I pretend I am the best sports player in the world!

I feel the ball come to me after a pass.

I touch my fan’s hands as I walk by. 

I worry that I won’t really get to be the player I imagine.

I cry when someone says, “you can do better!”

I am an athlete who likes to play soccer.

I understand that I might not make it to the Women’s World Cup.    

I say I know I can.

I dream to be well known when I grow up.

I try to do the best I can in sports and school.

I hope I make it to the Women’s World Cup.
