Al
Capone Does My Shirts
By

In the DCF, Al Capone Does My Shirts, I
learned a lot of things about Alcatraz. Alcatraz is a jail off the coast of San
Francisco, where convicts act like it is their home. The families of the guards
live right outside of the jail. Al Capone was one of the worst gangsters in San
Francisco. One of his crimes was when he invited a lot of police chiefs and
policemen to a fake party. When they all entered, his gang shut the doors and he
beat every one up with a baseball bat.
I also thought that it would be one of the most dangerous places on earth
because it was a jail that held all the worst convicts, like Al Capone, but it
was one of the safest because all the prisoners were all locked up and there was
maximum security.
The main character, Moose, thinks that it is one of the worst and deadly
places to live because it had over 300 convicts right besides their house.
The
main character’s mom pointed out that they were all locked up and could not
escape so it was very safe.
I didn’t think that there would be that many convicts on Alcatraz
because I heard it held only the worst convicts, so there would be about only
about 50 or so, but as I said there over 300.
I also thought that the jail would be owned by the city, like most jails,
but someone called the warden, kind of like a president of the island, could
control all the workers. If one of the kids got in big trouble, the warden could
make the parent still work there, but he would not get a paycheck.
