KIRA  KIRA

In Kira Kira, Katie’s family goes through a hard time because they just moved and there are only 31 Japanese people out of 4,001 people in this Georgia town.  The American people were not paying attention to Katie’s family.  When Katie’s brother Samson, was born, the nurses cared about him more than the mother.  Soon they will not care about him either.

In the book, I learned that people in some places in the U. S. do not care as much as they should about Japanese people.  An example of that is at the playground. Katie said, "School is boring isn’t it?" But they did not listen to one word she said..

When Katie was just standing in line, every one was not caring what made her feel bad.  The teacher did not care either.

In conclusion, I learned that it really does not matter what you look like.  It’'s what you are like in the inside.  In the part that I'm at right now, Katie is realizing that she has to depend on herself sometimes.  I think this is because her sister has become attached to being popular and putting on lipstick and has no time for her sister Katie.
