Lumber
Camp Library
By
Natalie Kinsey Warnock
The
book I am writing about is Lumber Camp Library. It takes place in the
nineteen hundreds. The main character is Ruby. She lives with her brothers,
sisters, Ma and Pa. They live in a lumber camp. Her pa rides the logs down the
stream. Ruby’s pa tells her she is going to school. He lets her ride the horse
to school.
Ruby is very full spirited girl. She loves the forest. She loves watching
her pa ride the logs. I will explain to you how her positive attitude makes her
life interesting.
Soon she goes to school and is able to read. She starts bringing home
books. That made her happy that she went to school and learned to read.
Ruby’s pa drowns during work and Ruby is so upset.
One of the people from the camp told them they had to move.
Ruby found happiness by spending a lot of time in the library with books.
She gets to know a lady, Aurora Graham, who lives above the library.
Soon a guy named Jim starts to take interest in Ruby’s ma. Jim gets a
ring for Ruby’s ma and asks if Ruby likes it. Ruby got so upset. She threw it
over the waterfall.
One day, Ruby’s ma got really sick. They brought her to live at the
library for awhile. Aurora helped Ruby’s ma get better.
One day one of Ruby’s sisters finds the ring. Soon, Ruby’s ma gets
better and Jim gives Ruby’s ma the ring. They get married soon after. Now Ruby
is very happy.
Now that you know more about this book, I hope that you’ll read it. I’m sure you’ll like it as much as I did.
