Dear Dexter School Board,

I’ve done research on the white, mysterious powder that appeared in your schoolyard on October 9, 2001. Now I have reached a final conclusion. This is my research and proof of where it came from and what it is.

According to my research, the following 3 powders appear to be in the mystery powder:

I know baking soda is in it because, when mixing this powder with vinegar, it fizzes and eventually explodes. I know baking soda and vinegar have the same reaction. I also know salt is in it because when mixing salt with alcohol, it turns into a powerful smelling, crystalline liquid. So, I studied the powder and concluded that salt and alcohol do the same.

I know cornstarch is in the mixture because I know that if something is a starch, and you mix it with iodine, it will turn black, I also know cornstarch is a starch. When I mixed the mystery powder with iodine, it turned black. That means it also is a starch.

For further conclusions, I have discovered that the powder was from the grocery store. A truck was unloading in the alley behind the schoolyard and some boxes fell out and popped open. The powder blew into the schoolyard. That is all I know. I hope you will call upon me to solve other mysteries as they occur at your school.
