Harry Potter and the Goblet of
Fire

Wizards live in Britain and around the world. Normal people do
not know that there are wizards. One of the wizarding schools is
Hogworts. Harry Potter goes to Hogwarts. He’s the main focus
of the Harry potter books. Harry Potter and the Goblet
of Fire by JK Rowling was particularly good.
The Triwizard Tournament is a tournament between the 3 rival
schools: Beauxbatons, Durmstrang and Hogworts. Each school has a
champion who will be in 3 tasks with the other 2 champions. If
you’re lucky and win then you get 1000 Gallions [wizarding
money]. That’s a lot.
This Tournament might sound like fun but I think it should be
banned. I say that because many wizards have died in the
Triwizard Tournament. Even Professor Dumbledore agrees. “The
death toll mounted so high that the tournament was discontinued,”
said the professor. Dumbledore said that when the tournament was
being unbanned this year.
Let me give some examples of why the Triwizard Tournament is too
dangerous. In the first task, which was to get past a dragon,Cedric
Diggory [Hogworts champion] was burned by the dragon. Fleur
Delacour’s dress caught on fire. She was Eauxbuton’s
champion. But luckily, Fleur put it out with her wand.
Harry Potter [Hogwort’s champion] got cut on the shoulder
but it was not very deep. If it was any deeper he would have been
very hurt. When Fleur Delacour’s dress caught on fire,it
could have killed her.
I hope you understand why I do not like the Triwizard Tournament.
I still have two more horrible tasks to talk about. Do you think
an American school would allow this tournament? Of course not! So
why should a wizard school?
In the second task, the champions had to find the person in the
lake outside Hogworts. The lake is a few hundred feet deep. When
Harry Potter tried to find his person, Ron Weasly, he got
attacked under the water by a group of Grindylows [dangerous
animals]. They almost killed him but he got away. The champions
had only one hour to find the person. In other words, they died.
Luckily, all the champions saved their person.
For the third and final task, the champion had to go though a
maze. Of course, it was no ordinary maze. It was full of
dangerous animals that are only in the wizarding world. To win
the Tournament,a champion must touch the Triwizard cup. While
Harry Potter was in the maze, his leg was broken by a giant
spider.
The reason the three schools have the Triwizard
Tournament is to get better relations between themselves. I think
the Tournament makes the schools more competitive with each other.
When people get competitive with each other, they become rude.
When people are rude with each other, they get mad at each other.
In time they might start a war. By the end of this book, people
had gotten past the rude point.
I encourage you to read this book because it is very good. The
other three books in the series are excellent too. I do not
always agree with the author all the time but the books are quite
exciting and well written.
