Great Smoky Mountains

What kinds of plants live there?
There are many kinds of beautiful wildflowers in the park. There are more than 100 kinds of trees including evergreen and hardwood trees.

Why should we preserve the park?
When the settlers came they cut down most of the trees and killed lots of the wildlife. There is no logging or hunting allowed in the park because it was made a national park in 1934.

Who takes care of America’s most beautiful lands?
If you went to a national park you would be greeted by a park ranger.  They would give you a folder and tell you the rules.  For example, you would be asked not to feed the park animals or disturb their habitats.  The park ranger will answer any question you have drawing from years of experience and studying about the park.  The park ranger can tell you about the whole national park from its history to its famous landmarks to its most abundant plants and animals or endangered species.  They talk a lot and need to like people.  They save peoples lives.  I like park rangers.
