The First President  

1732 -1799

 

Hi!!! I am a 5th grade student at an elementary school in Vermont! We have all decided to do web pages on different subjects. This subject is The First Six Presidents!!! I decided to do George Washington because I thought that it was cool that he was the first president of the United States of America!!! He is a very important figure in the history of the US!!! In fact, I am studying him for one of my school projects.

Did you know??????

 1) George Washington had slave quarters in the back of his house, Mount Vernon.

2) George Washington did not live in the White House because it was not built when he was president. 

3) George Washington was one of six children.

4) In his will, he emancipated (freed) his slaves.

5)  George Washington was born in 1732 into a Virginia planter family, where he learned how to be an 18th century Virginia gentleman.
