Green Mountain Hero

I really like Green Mountain Hero because it is historic and fun. People who like history will like this book because it is factual in parts. Green Mountain Hero takes you back to the time of the Revolutionary War.
Solomon is the main character in this book. Amos is Solomon’s father. Solomon’s house gets burned down. It was caused by either wet hay or their enemy, Zeke Jenny. I thought it was Zeke Jenny who did it. So the Story’s had to go the New Hampshire Grants, what is now Vermont.
My favorite quote was when Mr. Smauly said, "When you need us, send the boys up, and we’ll give you a day all hands." People helped each other.
A sad part in the book was when Amos and Solomon were cutting down trees and Amos calls to Solomon, "Look out! The tree’s falling!" Solomon jumped away, but Amos couldn’t get away in time. The tree hit Amos. Solomon cried to his father, but there was no response. He was dead.
A ranger came to tell the Story family that the Indians and Zeke Jenny were coming, so Ann told the two older boys to go and make a cave. After a few hours the Indians and Zeke Jenny came. Luckily they were in the cave. The weird thing was they didn’t burn the wood shed. When they came back, Zeke Jenny and the Indians were gone. The family still stayed in the cave at night and the wood shed by day.
I recommend Green Mountain Hero because it taught me a lot about how people lived back then. Green Mountain Hero is related to a real story that happened in real life. It’s about a family named the Story family. It’s about Ann Story and what she did to help the Green Mountain Boys. You will learn a lot about history if you read Green Mountain Hero.
