Green Mountain Hero

I liked Green Mountain Hero because I felt like I knew the characters very well. I couldn't put the book down because I thought that it was so interesting. It explained what they were doing so you didn't get confused.

The event that helped me form my opinion was when the drunk trader traded Amos and Solomon a canoe for a horse. What they realized after was that the canoe had no paddles. They went back to the trader and got the paddles. I thought Amos and Solomon were smart because they figured out what the trader did. They were sleeping in the shed and while they were building their house. One night they heard a wildcat outside. Amos said, "Stay quiet and don't move". The wildcat went away.

This book reminded me of another book called Sign of the Beaver. Both families live in log cabins and in each book, someone killed a bear. The mother was brave to stay at their old home with the children by herself while Amos and Solomon went looking for new land.

Amos was a smart man. He knew how to build a log cabin and he knew how to protect them from wolves by staying near the fire. Solomon was brave because he walked home by himself after his father was killed to get his mother and family. He brought them to their new house.

I was glad when Solomon killed the bear because they needed food for the winter. I felt sad when Amos, the father, died. I'm glad that Solomon didn't get killed. I liked this book. I would recommend it to others who enjoy book with excitement and adventure.
