Green Mountain Hero

I just read the book Green Mountain Hero and this book was great! This book makes me feel scared and sad. I was sad when Solomon’s father died. I was scared when their house in Connecticut burned down."If you ever need us for anything just send the boy and we will give you a hand." This is a quote when Amos, Solomon’s father died. Amos died when Solomon and Amos were cutting down trees. When the tree started to fall Solomon got out of the way, but Amos was not fast enough. The tree fell on Amos and he died. This is the part of the story where I felt sad.
Another event in the story is in the first chapter when their house in Connecticut bursts into flames. There are two ways that the house could have caught on fire. A man named Zeke Jenny could have set it on fire. Or wet hay! Wet hay gets hot by being packed tightly near dry hay. It doesn’t have enough air around it to dry. So its gets hot so hot that its gets to kindle and the fire starts. This is the part in the story where I got scared.
I like this book Green Mountain Hero because it gives you facts about the 1700’s. You’re reading a good book. I also like this book, because it has lots of adventure in the story. That’s why I think people should read this book to find out more about Amos and Solomon, the rest of the Story family and to understand how early Vermont was settled.
