Green Mountain Hero

People who like adventure books should read Green Mountain Hero. It's about a family that had a fire in their barn and their house began to burn. They were able to save the house, but the barn burnt down. A boy named Solomon and his father, Amos, went off to find new land. The mother and the rest of the children stayed in Connecticut.

I think that this book is adventurous because a lot of different things happen to them on their journey to find new land in Vermont. There was a lot of danger that they had to face while on their journey. They also had to trade their horse for a canoe so they could travel through Otter Creek to get to Salisbury. They realized after they traded the horse that they didn't have any paddles to row the canoe. So they had to make them out of wood.

They found land and began to build a house. They were cutting down trees one day and something bad happened. A tree was falling down and Solomon jumped out of the way. Amos tried to run away, but he was too slow so the tree fell on him. I really hated when that happened. If that happened to my father, I would be very sad.

I would recommend this book because it is full of adventure and history. I enjoyed reading about when they were being attacked by wolves. It was interesting and exciting to read because I could picture what was happening in the book.
