I read the book, Green Mountain Hero. This story takes place in the 1700’s. It is an historical fiction story. It is based on Ann Story’s family. I liked this book because it had a lot of action and hunting. There was action when they hunted for animals, and when Amos and Solomon got attacked by wolves. They survived the attack. This book also had action when Zeke Jenny burned down the barn. After that happened, they built a new home.

When the barn burned down I felt sad. It was disappointing for them when they lost their barn. Amos Story thought about moving somewhere else. He was thinking about moving his family to the New Hampshire Grants.

To me this book was great! I liked when Amos shot the bear, and Amos noticed the tree that the bear climbed had honey in it so they got honey from the tree! Amos and Solomon used the bear skin for a rug,and cut the bear meat into steaks. This reminds me of when my step dad hunts for deer and turkey.

I like reading this story because it makes me feel like I was with Amos and Solomon wherever they went. I also liked when Amos shot the bear,and I felt happy for him. I don’t think I would want to live during this time because you would have to always hunt for meat. If i missed a shot, it would be disappointing to the rest of my family. It was a hard life to live.
