The Canopy

By Alex

This is the canopy. The canopy is the highest layer in the forest. In this picture the canopy consists mainly of the crowns (branches and leaves) of the tallest trees. The most common trees in the forest are called the dominant trees of the forest. The canopy gets full sunlight which helps it gets more food than any other layer. Some fruit eating birds, insects, and mammals that eat leaves or fruit live in the canopy.
