Camel’s Hump
By: Andrew
We took this picture of Camel’s Hump on a boat called The Spirit of Ethan Allen II. Camel’s Hump got its name because it looks like a camel’s hump. Camel’s Hump used to be called Saddle Mountain by the Waubanaukee Native Americans. Ira Allen called the mountain Camel’s Rump on a map in 1798 and they changed it to Camel’s Hump. Samuel de Champlain’s French explorers in the 1600’s called it Lion Couchant or Resting Lion.
