Have you ever watched a sea gull run or fly away?  In this report you will learn about what they look like, what they eat, how they defend themselves and attack, how they move, where they live, their babies, and interesting facts about them.

These birds are medium to large size.  They are grey or white with black marks on the head or wings.  They have long bills and webbed feet.  They have red and black below their bills.

They eat almost anything!  They even eat garbage at dumps.  They eat fish and crabs from the sea.  They are mostly carnivores when they are by the sea.  Carnivores eat meat.

They defend themselves by flying away.  They will group themselves with other gulls to scare away predators.  This works!

They live near water.  They can be found by the coast along the sea.  They don’t go out very far to sea.  They have learned to live with humans because they can get food.

Gulls lay eggs.  After about one month, the egg begins to crack.  A gull pecks its way out of the egg with its egg tooth.  After a chick is about five years old, they are called fledglings.

I like gulls.  I like how they look.  When I find gulls at the beach, I chase them.  They run away from me.  There a lot of them at the beach so I chase another one!
