Did you know that since the 1700's many, many lighthouses have lit the way for seagoing folks along the East coast? When we think of New England, many people picture autumn leaves, covered bridges, and coastal lighthouses. Our class is studying various aspects of New England. For this project, we chose to read and learn about lighthouses. We thought about the sights, smells, and sounds that are conjured up in our minds when we think about these structures. From there, each child wrote a poem about the images he or she pictured. Click on the picture to hear each member of our class read his or her poem. We hope you enjoy listening to the poems and looking at the crayon resist watercolor paintings the children created.
