You are still thinking about your bid on the Oval Office.  You are asking yourself more and more, "What does the President of the United States actually do?"

1.  Watch Presidential Power with your team.  Play the online quiz.  In your Presidential Journal, write about   three responsibilities of the United States President.

You have many strengths, know today's issues and respect the government that was laid out in the Constitution by America's founding fathers.  Hmmmm.....Perhaps there is a former or current leader who might inspire you to pursue your goals.

2.  Who has been President of the United States?  Click on U.S. Presidents to investigate various resources on these historical figures.  This site enables you to gather information from four Grolier encyclopedias.  In your Presidential Journal, record the number of presidents the United States has had.  Choose at least five presidents from the list.  Read about their lives.  Read about their vice presidents and the First Ladies. Also, give a short overview about these people.

3.  Listen to and watch  at least three Past Presidents Videos.  Enter in your journal their names and  the key event or issue they addressed.

4.  Choose one United States President, Vice President, or First Lady to focus on.  You are to become an expert on that person.  Use resources given here as well as others such as books, videos, and magazines to help you in your quest.  Create a  presentation including a typewritten report and display about one U.S. President, Vice President, or First Lady using our report format.  The report will include a cover sheet, introduction with an effective hook, body, and conclusion that follows our report writing guidelines.  It will also include a bibliography.  Use Citation Maker.  You will assess your progress by referring to your Report Writing Rubric and Presentation Rubric.  As always, you will design an assessment tool to quiz the audience and assess what they have learned from you.

For more information, check out  History Central,  PresidentsPresident Outlines,  Presidential Sites,  and American Presidents, Presidents of the United States. Be sure to investigate print sources as well.

5.  Bring your character to life.  Become the President, Vice President, or First Lady by dressing up as that person.  Be prepared to give your presentation dressed as that person.

6.  We will share your presentations at a special Presidential Parent Share to take place in the fall, date to be announced.

7.  What did  you  learn from this person' successes or failures?  Enter you thoughts in your Presidential Journal.

You have learned from the past.  So, now do you want to be president?  Of course you do!  Now it is time to let the world know where you stand.

7.  Click on this picture to learn how to write an effective speech announcing who you are and all that you stand for.  Follow each direction as it is given.  Spread the word.....You are putting your hat into the presidential ring!!!!!  Be prepared to share your speech with the class.

We support you 100%...... Where can we sign up to volunteer for your campaign?????
