Have you ever read the book The Colony of Connecticut? I have. I will be telling more about it. This book is about how colonists traveled for whale meat and whale teeth which they could carve into cool designs. They traveled for those things so they could trade. When you give the people the stuff you traveled for, they give you eggs, vegetables, spices, sugar, guns, and tools.
Did you think all of the early colonists lived in houses? Well, they didn’t.  They would go on the side of the mountain and dig a hole in it and sleep in there for the nights. What kept them warm was beaver fur that they hunted. They lived in the new country Quinnenhtukqut.   Quinnenhtukqut means long river.
Later, in England, King Charles made up something named taxes. It means the extra amount of money on top of the purchase of an item. This money went to the King. Who ever didn’t pay taxes had to move out of the country. The colonists decided to do something about it, because they didn’t like the fact they had to pay taxes.
Before I tell you about what happened next, I should tell you that in England tea is a very popular drink. So the colonists threw the tea in the water because they were so mad at the government.
There was a very big Revolutionary War, and it started on April 19, 1775 in Massachusetts.
