Crater Lake National Park

                                                       Crater Lake National Park

Crater Lake National Park was formed after the collapse of an ancient volcano, and named Mount Magma.  The eruption was 42 times as powerful as the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helen.  The basin was formed after the top 5,000 feet of the volcano collapsed.  Approximately 4.6 trillion gallons of water from rainfall and snow melted in the basin to create  the seventh deepest lake in the world.   Winter snow, averaging 533 inches per year, supplies the lake with water.  There are no inlets or outlets to the lake.  Crater Lake is 1,958 feet deep.  It is the deepest lake in the United States.  It is in Oregon.  One of the animals in Crater Lake National Park is the black bear..  There are also peregrine falcons, fish, and spotted owls. Crater Lake is one of the  49 national parks.
Park rangers have big responsibility. Park rangers teach about the past. Park rangers teach about nature.
