Cathedral Caverns State Park

Cathedral Caverns is in Woodville, Alabama.  It is 461 acres big and has the world's largest cave entrance, which is 24 by 37 meters wide.  Cathedral Caverns also has the world's largest frozen waterfall and the world's largest stalagmite, named Goliath.  It also has bats, but no plants.  The park ranger gives tours to protect the wildlife.

Jay Gurley sold all of his possessions to buy the cave.  He worked on it for ten years in order to make it a national park.  He used 65 km of wire to put in electric lighting, 80,000 watts.  The Jay Gurley Bridge is still being constructed in Cathedral Caverns over Mystery River.  It was named after him because he was so important.
