The War of 1812 is sometimes called the "Second War of Independence" or the "forgotten war."  It was fought until 1815 between the United States and Great Britain.  This conflict was caused mainly by the U.S. resentment of British naval harassment.  The British were already at war with France. They seized American ships and took seamen from them, some who were U.S. citizens.  The British also attempted to keep U.S. ships from reaching French ports.

Project

Now, in your regional groups, create a quiz.
The quiz you create must cover the following areas:

- causes of the War of 1812
- effects and impact of the war on Canada and United States
- the major personalities of the war
- geographical locations of battles before, during and after the war.

You are required to submit one quiz per group.  Each member of the group is responsible for one area of research.  All members are required to share their notes and information with the other members.  Each student is responsible for understanding the information in all areas and be able to take a quiz/test following the unit.  The quiz can be of a format of your choice (multiple choice, short answer, fill in the blank, or a mix of several types).  There must be 15 - 20 questions and a complete answer sheet to go along with the quiz.  The quiz must be done in a word-processing document.

Through the above activity, students are working on Information Technology GE 5-6 1, GE 5-6 2, GE 5-6 3, GE 5-6 4, GE 5-6 5.
