Plate Activities

Using the following web site down load pictures of the earth from the Precambrian to the modern world into HyperStudio or PowerPoint and link them in order to make a slide show of the history of the earth.  Please include captions of the time period below each picture.

Who is Alfred Wegener  and what theory is he known for?  Construct an educational poster with a picture of Mr. Wegener and a brief summary of his theory.

Down load one of the Plate Tectonics animation and describe what is happening in the world during this time.

Less than 100 years ago, many scientists thought the continents always had been the same shape and in the same place. A few scientists noted that the eastern coastline of South America and the western coastline of Africa looked as if they could fit together. Some also noted that, with a little imagination, all the continents could be joined together like giant puzzle pieces to create one large continent surrounded by one huge ocean.  Look at the following web site and find fossil evidence that would support this theory.  Write about the evidence you found.
