Project Criteria
Your group will take on the role of newspaper reporters to create a mini-newspaper for the Jamestown Settlement. Each of you will research and write articles on the topics below. Your final project will be a newspaper that includes research information, with pictures to go along with your articles. The goals of this assignment include:
1. What were the names of the boats that reached Jamestown? (http://www.williamsburg.com/james/james.html)
2. Using the following web site (http://www.apva.org/finding/fort.html) research the highlighted dig below. Please use the who, what, where, when, why & how template when researching your archeology dig.

7. Describe Fair Trade with the Native Americans. (http://www.apva.org/exhibit/trade.html)
8. Using the book, How to Draw Virginia’s Sights and Symbols, by Melody S. Mis, draw a Jamestown settlement house.
9. Color the poster of the fort at Jamestown, or using materials copied from Colonial America, by Donald M. Silver and Patricia J. Wynne, build a 3-D model of the fort at Jamestown, then using Forts in America, by Harold L. Peterson, research whom the designer was? When was it was built? Why was it built that way? What was it made of? And any other facts that you feel are important about the fort. Place all information on the back of the poster.
