What is the Skeletal System
  • There are several parts to the skeletal system. They are the spine, the skull, ribs, hands, legs and arms and joints.

Important Facts
  • You are born with 300 bones.
  • You can’t stand up without your bones.
  • Your bones are hollow.
  • Your skull protects your brain.
  • As a adult you would have 206 bones.
  • If there is too much pressure on your bones they break.
  • As you get older your bones grow and form.

What Does the Skeletal System Do?
  • Your ribs protect your heart.
  • Your ribs also protect your lungs.
  • It protects your organs.
  • It protects your muscle.

Feet and Hands
  • In your skeletal system more than half of the bones in your body are in your hands and feet.

Broken Bones
  • The bones that you have break under a certain amount of pressure (that is to much).

Little People + Big People
  • As a little person you have 300 bones as you get bigger and become a big person your bones fuse together and you get 206.

Formed Bones
  • When you get older your bones form to a certain shape that it is suppose to be.

Extra Facts
  • There are 27 bones in your hands.
  • With out bones you would be a big pile of skin.
  • The hardest bone is your teeth.
  • The smallest bone in the human body
    are the several really tiny bones inside the ear.
    The largest bone in your body is the femur (thigh bone).
