Full text of above: * The Hopi believed that boys, girls, men, and women were equally important. The "Hopi Way" was to be kind to others and to live in harmony with the world. * Their name means "peaceful people." * Kachinas are not Gods but powerful spirits that help the Hopi. They dress up as kachinas for special ceremonies. *The storyteller was important to the tribe. The Hopi believed that their stories had to told in the same way everytime. The storyteller couldn't change anything. The Hopi made storyteller dolls to honor the stories of their people. * The Snake Dance was done as a prayer for rain. The dancing lasted for 16 days. The snake priest was in charge of going out to collect all the snakes that were needed. *The sunwatcher of the tribe told the people when the sun was in the right place in the sky for planting and harvesting. |
