Local group, The Dares, warm up before the show. They performed on a huge stage set up at the foot of Church Street, next to City Hall in Burlington.

Jon Gailmor entertained hundreds of people awaiting the torch runner  in Burlington, Vermont.

Allison, a City Hall employee, brought the torch to the stage.  She had received it from Michele Forman, the National Teacher of the Year, who is from Salisbury, Vermont.

Allison lights the Olympic cauldron.

Occurring events were displayed on a huge video screen next to the stage.  Here, the winning artwork of a community competition  is displayed.

Owney cheered on the torch runners with his own "I Saw the Flame" flag.  He also was given one of the stickers marking the starting point for each of the torch runners.  These markers were placed about .2 miles apart along the torch relay course.  What an incredible day!

One of Owney's friends, Nanci Hamilton-Hoffman, made some changes to the actual picture from the torch relay to include the traveling pup.  Thanks for the laugh, Nanci!
