by J. Alison James

Following a sharing of student learning resulting from a study of Japan in Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Peabody's K-1 classrooms, J. Alison James read her book The Drums of Noto Hanto.  Adding to Alison's performance were members from the Burlington Taiko Drummers.

Alison demonstrates how Japanese children bow and greet their teacher each day.

The students practice their bow.

Alison introduces the Taiko drummer.

Alison made her story of The Drums of Noto Hanto come alive as she read.

The children had the opportunity to perform Taiko drumming.

Many thanks go to J. Alison James and the Burlington Taiko Drummers for helping to enrich our study of Japan.
