Pillsbury
Manor Interview with Polly Getkin
By Everett and Jazmine

Polly Getkin was
born in Washington DC, 1918. She later on lived in New Jersey. She
didn’t live on a farm but her uncle lived on a farm. Often she
would go and play in the hay loft. Polly had a cat and a dog. She
liked her cat better than her dog because she thought cats were more
cute and cuddly than dogs. Polly’s dog’s name was Coco. She liked
to play baseball and basketball with her friends. Polly thought
some days were better than others in school. “It’s how you feel
when you get up in the morning that effects the rest of your day,”
Polly said. Polly had school buses to get to school and some times
she would walk. One of Polly’s favorite places to go was the fair.
The fair was always fun. There were a lot of fun things to do. She
did not look up to anyone but she wanted to be a nurse. She was a
nurse in New Jersey. She rode the ambulance if the patient was a
girl with an emergency. Her favorite holiday memory was Christmas
with her family. Polly is presently in South Burlington, Vermont,
in the lovely Pillsbury Manor.
